Detoxing
Five days into my Dr Stone purification diet and all’s going well. I have done the detox several times
over the years, I like to do it at least once a year, a bit like a ‘service’ for my body. This detox is not for the faint hearted but has great benefits.
I was motivated to do the detox this year, after a few years off,
because after recent tests the doctor told me I had some fatty cells in my
liver. As I don’t drink I know that the cause is my diet, I am addicted to
sugar, I think this a result of being born in the 1950s into a poor family,
having a bad diet such as white bread sandwiches with just sugar or jam for
tea.
I must also say that weight loss was a motivator as I have gained 4½ stones
over the past 10 years, since my menopause.
The benefits I am feeling today are a suppleness of my joints and the
bonus is a 7 pound weight loss.

Storm coming? You might not know it, but your cat will be hiding under the bed with a candle and a copy of The Neverending Story an hour beforehand. And those new guests? If your cat doesn’t like them, watch out. Something’s up. And unfortunately, only your cat will know what it is.

I found my cat abandoned as a kitten on the side of the road. At first, I didn’t plan on keeping him, but, boy, am I glad that I did.
There are plenty of caring animal shelters where you can find a loving cat who just wants a warm home and possibly a laser pointer.

How one-minute bursts of exercise can boost health for over-60s in just six weeks

- Study by Abertay University in Dundee into high intensity exercise
- It could help ease the 'astronomical' cost of ill-health in the elderly
Short, sharp bursts of exercise could transform the lives of the over-60s, research suggests.
Just two one-minute sessions a week for six weeks dramatically improved the health and physical fitness of men and women in this age group.
Blood pressure dropped and everyday tasks such as getting out of a chair or carrying shopping became easier.
